self care for self confidence

Everywhere we look on the internet or in the media there’s the opportunity to compare ourselves to others, causing feelings of negativity and a decrease in self-confidence.

It can be especially easy right now to fall down the rabbit hole of self-destruction, but rather let’s take this time to better ourselves and prepare to come out on the other side of COVID-19 refreshed and ready to take on the world! Keep reading to learn steps that you can take to love yourself wholeheartedly and to boost your self-esteem while at home.

Use Daily Affirmations

There’s no better way to start each day than by reminding yourself out loud about how awesome you are. If you’re new to daily affirmations, they are positive statements that you can use routinely as encouragement for yourself and there are countless ways to use them. Some techniques include jotting down two to three affirmations in a journal each morning, while others say them out loud in front of a mirror while standing in the power stance. Start with whatever you’re most comfortable with, and eventually, this practice will be second nature to you and will truly work wonders for your confidence. After all, it is important we know our own self-worth!

Cleanse Your Social Channels

If your screen time has increased rapidly since the start of the pandemic– don’t worry, you’re not alone. It’s expected to naturally gravitate toward your cellphones to fill the void of free time. However, constantly reaching for your phone can lead to some pretty damaging habits, especially when scrolling through social media apps. Without noticing, it’s easy to compare yourself to others that you see on your social feeds. Take some time to go through who you follow and think about if the content that they share brings you joy or if you find yourself feeling bad because your life doesn’t compare to theirs. If you feel the latter, unfollow them and find alternative accounts and communities that inspire and motivate you. Remember, a lot of the posts you will see on social channels are not always as they appear. Many of them lack authenticity and typically undergo staging and editing.

Jump Up And Move Around

Exercise and movement work absolute wonders for your mood. Endorphins are released when you engage in physical activity and endorphins naturally make you happy. It is recommended that adults exercise for at least 30 minutes every day and there are so many different ways to accomplish this. One of the most fun ways, however, is by turning about some of your favorite tunes and grooving it out. Dance like nobody’s watching and before you know it, your 30-minute exercise will be over and you’ll want to keep going!

Daily exercise can also boost your confidence by toning your body and helping you feel better on the outside. If you have any insecurities or fitness goals that you’ve always wanted to improve, why not start now in the comfort of your own home? Check out virtual fitness programs to help you achieve your best physical self and come out of quarantine looking and feeling like a new person.

Get Intimate

If you are in an intimate relationship with someone, take advantage of their support in the bedroom. Confidence in the bedroom often translates into confidence in all other areas of life because of the satisfaction it brings you. However, sexual confidence takes time and practice so don’t worry if you’re not there yet. If you have any difficulties during sex, consider seeking help through a trained therapist that specializes in intimacy. Alternatively, some struggles like maintaining an erection can be solved with the help of a doctor who can prescribe you with a prescription for viagra that you can get online or any other erectile dysfunction medications. Once you feel confident and adventurous in the bedroom, you’ll be more comfortable and likely to take risks in other areas of your life.

Enhance Your Personal Brand

Just like how large corporations have brand images to uphold, so do individuals. It might not seem like it, but your reputation has a lot to do with how you feel about yourself. Think about how you want to perceive yourself and start there. If there are personal areas in your life that you think need improvements, like your time management or organizational skills, make a plan for how you’ll get better. Right now is the perfect time to obtain and perfect any skills that you may not have had time for before. Doing so will make you more confident in the long run when it comes time for new opportunities that you want to qualify and be a good candidate for.

While you’re stuck at home, take the time to be proactive and work on your self-confidence. Do something today that you’ll be happy you did later on. Be an advocate for your future self and grow to your fullest potential!
